Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal is a medical procedure that uses a concentrated beam of light (laser) to remove unwanted hair. During laser hair removal, a laser emits a light that is absorbed by the pigment (melanin) in the hair. The light energy is converted to heat, which damages the tube-shaped sacs within the skin (hair follicles) that produce hairs. This damage inhibits or delays future hair growth. Laser hair removal is used to reduce unwanted hair. Common

What areas can I use for laser hair removal?

Most commonly, laser hair removal is used to reduce hair growth on the face, back, legs, forearm, underarm, and bikini line. However, laser hair removal can be used to reduce any amount of hair on any desired area of the body.

How is the preparation for the laser?

Prior to the start of your procedure, the physician may choose to shave or trim the hair on the area. Often, the physician will apply a cooling gel to the treatment area, which will help prevent heat produced by the laser from damaging your skin. In contrast, the physician may use a laser with a special cooling tip that applies a coolant during the procedure. Although the procedure is not typically painful, you may request a topical anesthetic if you are sensitive to pain. You will likely be given eyewear to protect your eyes from the intense light produced by the laser.

How long is the Session?

The length of a laser hair removal procedure depends on the treatment area. The procedure which involves hair removal from small regions, such as the underarm, may take only minutes while a larger area such as the legs, may last approximately one hour.

How Many Session do you need?

Laser hair removal usually requires two to six treatments. The interval between treatments will vary depending on the location. On areas where hair grows quickly, such as the upper lip, the treatment might be repeated in four to eight weeks. On areas of slow hair growth, such as the back, the treatment might be every 12 to 16 weeks.

What are the results?

You may notice some hairs that appear on the surface of your skin within seven to ten days following treatment, these hairs are usually the ones that have fallen out of hair follicles, impaired during treatment. However, you will notice some new hair growth within a few weeks, as hair follicles that were inactive during treatment re-enter the active growth phase. Therefore, you will most likely undergo multiple treatments spaced approximately four to eight weeks apart. These effects can vary from person to person. Although the number of treatments vary by individual, most people receive approximately six to eight treatments. What is IPL Laser Treatment

Our advanced IPL technology allows us to safely, easily, and effectively treat many benign pigmentation and vascular skin lesions painlessly on an out-patient basis. Quick signs of aging, including brown spots and broken capillaries can easily be treated with IPL laser. It produces a smoother skin appearance. Usually it takes 3-6 treatments to see a significant results. Treatment is done once a month.

What conditions can IPL treat?

  • Freckles
  • Age Spots
  • Sun Spots
  • Birthmarks
  • Seborrheic Keratoses
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Port Wine Stains
  • Rosacea
  • Spider Veins.

How do IPL treatments work?

IPL treatments are performed with a non-invasive medical system that uses intense pulsed light therapy to reduce melanin (the dark pigment in your skin).

The light energy is gently delivered to your skin in pulses, with a delicate computer-controlled hand piece. After your IPL treatment, lesion or hair will gradually fade and slowly disappear.

How many treatments are required?

This depends on the size, location, depth and the color of your lesion. Spider Veins and age spots on the face generally do well with one or two treatments, while darker or deeper birthmarks may require additional treatments. Port wine stains, hemangiomas and leg veins usually experience satisfactory results from IPL treatments with four to eight treatment sessions. Each session usually lasts about 15-20 minutes. Treatments should be placed 4 to 8 weeks apart to allow your body to remove the maximum amount of pigment cells. Results can vary from person to person. You will continue to see lightening of your lesion after each treatment as your body disposes of the pigmentation cells.

Laser Scar Removal

While scars can never be completely vanished, scar removal procedures are meant to minimize their appearance. There are many non-surgical methods used for scar removal such as: injectable fillers to fill concave scars, light therapy and lasers, dermabrasion and chemical peels. For severe scarring, surgery is needed to remove the old scar. The incision may be closed with either skin grafts or tissue substitutes. In some cases, a tissue expander will be placed below the surface of the scar and slowly filled with a sterile solution. Once the skin has sufficiently been stretched, the expander and scar are removed. The remaining skin is then stretched to cover the open area.

Laser acne scar removal

All scars are white, as there is an absence of the melanin pigment producing cells in scar tissue. If the scar can be made smaller/less wide by a scar revision, this will improve the appearance. To cover the white color, camouflage tattooing works quite well. This is done by permanent makeup tattoo artists that have special training in this technique. The color of your skin is matched to a tattoo pigment that is tattooed into the scar tissue to replace the lost color due to the lack of melanin.

Most fresh scars appear reddish in color, this is a sign of wound healing and new collagen production. Sometimes this healing can be excessive and a hypertrophic or keloid scar can develop. Without seeing a picture of your scar it would be difficult to comment on it. This type of excessive healing or scar formation doesn’t begin until 6 weeks after your injury then you are most likely healing normally. In the event that you are forming scar tissue, a vascular laser such as a KTP or pulse dye are very helpful when the scar is still in its red stages. Once it matures and turns white, other lasers such as Fraxel work well to blend the scar with the surrounding skin.

Skin Tag Removal

What is a Skin Tag?

A common blemish, a skin tag is a small, soft piece of tissue that hangs off the skin by a connective stalk. These bumps or skin flaps most commonly appear in the armpits, on the neck and around the eyes; however some people develop such lesions on their testicles, nipples or in the anal region. Often more cosmetically bothersome or annoying than harmful, these outer skin growths can take many sizes, shapes and colors.

HOW are skin growths removed?

There are several ways to go about removing skin imperfections, but laser removal is the most efficient and cosmetically friendly option. Using simple skin lasers, technicians direct a concentrated beam of light to effectively burn away your lesions

Why choose laser skin treatments?

Self-conscious of their appearance, fed up with the constant rubbing they may cause or for any other number of reasons, there are many like you who want to remove their skin growths. When you are considering laser skin removal, you may be concerned about:

  • Effectiveness of the treatment
  • Scarring
  • Recovery time

Unlike topical methods, which can take months to produce even minor results, this procedure allows you to eliminate these skin growths in one or two treatments. Most otherwise healthy people heal within three to five days without any adverse consequences.

E-Light Skin Rejuvenation

is the combined energy technology of optical (light) and bi-polar RF (radio frequency) for a deeper and more effective dermal penetration. There are some contraindications for the use of E-light so for those individuals they can still receive IPL treatments.

Treats:
*Evens out Skin Tone
*Red Blemishes (broken capillaries)
*Hyperpigmentation (sun damage)
*Melasma
*Rosacea
*Fine lines/wrinkles
*Skin Tightening
*Permanent Hair Reduction
*Acne & acne scarring

What is the treatment like?
A cooling gel is applied first, then the hand piece is placed on the skin. The hand piece also has a cooling plate to protect the skin. When the pulse is delivered, you may feel a mild, brief stinging sensation, similar to a rubber band snap. Immediately following the treatment, you will have a slight reddening and pigmented spots will appear darker. The reddening will subside in a few hours and the darker spots will fade and flake off over the next couple weeks. If you are receiving a hair reduction treatment, the hair follicle will appear as red spots for several hours.

How many treatments will I need?
Hair reduction and skin rejuvenation typically take 4 – 6 treatments. Hair reduction treatments are spaced 4 – 8 weeks apart depending on the body part. Skin rejuvenation treatments are scheduled 3 weeks apart.

Tattoo Laser Removal

Tattoo Laser Removal Technique can get rid of your unwanted tattoo with minimal side effects.

How It Works

Lasers remove tattoos by breaking up the pigment colors with a high-intensity light beam. Black tattoo pigment absorbs all laser wavelengths, making it the easiest color to treat. Other colors can only be treated by selected lasers based upon the pigment color.

You should first schedule a free consultation to evaluate your tattoo and advise you on the process. The number of treatments you will need will depend on the age, size, and color(s) of your tattoo. The color of your skin, as well as how deep the tattoo pigment goes, will also affect the removal technique.

In general, this is what you should expect during a laser tattoo removal session:

  1.  We’ll give you a pair of protective eye shields.
  2. Ourtechnician will test your skin’s reaction to the laser to determine the most effective energy for treatment.
  3. Our technician uses the laser to pass pulses of intense light through the top layers of your skin that will be absorbed by the tattoo pigment only.

Smaller tattoos will require fewer pulses while larger ones will need more to remove them. In either case, to completely get rid of a tattoo, it will take several treatments. After each visit, your tattoo should be Laser tattoo removal is uncomfortable, but most patients don’t need anesthesia. Depending on the location of your tattoo, you may want to apply a topical anesthesia cream beforehan become progressively lighter.

Laser treatment is often safer than many other tattoo removal methods, such as excision, dermabrasion, or salabrasion because laser treatment selectively treats the pigment in the tattoo. And there are very few side effects.

Laser Toenail Fungus Removal

Toenail fungus, or onychomycosis, is an infection underneath the surface of the nail caused by fungi. When the tiny organisms take hold, the nail often becomes darker in color and smells foul. Debris may collect beneath the nail plate, white marks frequently appear on the nail plate, and the infection is capable of spreading to other toenails, the skin, or even the fingernails. If ignored, the infection can spread and possibly impair your ability to work or even walk. The resulting thicker nails are difficult to trim and make walking painful when wearing shoes.

Harmony Laser Med Spa successfully treating Onychomycosis painlessly with the last Laser tegnology.

THE PROCEDURE  requires one or a small number of safe, quick treatments with little or no discomfort and is performed as an outpatient service with no anesthesia. The gentle laser light beam has no effect on healthy tissue, and treats only the infected area of the toe. No drugs or topical ointments are used, eliminating the total-body side effects of traditional oral medications.

How does the laser works?
The Laser kills the fungus that lives in and under the toenail. The laser light passes through the toenail without causing damage to the nail or the surrounding skin. At the time of the procedure, the toenail will not become instantly clear, because it takes time to grow out.

How long does the fungus toenail laser treatment take?
Consultation and Procedure may take between 20 to 30 minutes. Treatments are usually spaced one month apart. Upon conclusion of the treatment, the nail plate should grow out normally in 6-12 months. This result is exceptionally higher than any oral or topical medication presently on the market.

Spider Veins Removal

Having spider or varicose veins can affect more than your appearance. These veins can cause serious discomfort. Some varicose veins put you at risk for a complication like a blood clot or open sores on your legs.

Minimally invasive treatment can get rid of or fade leg veins. Treatment can also diminish symptoms like pain and fatigue and prevent complications

Why we get visible leg veins

Varicose and spider veins are damaged veins. We develop them when tiny, one-way valves inside the veins weaken. In healthy veins, these valves push blood in one direction — back to our heart. When these valves weaken, some blood flows backward and accumulates in the vein. Extra blood in the vein puts pressure on the walls of the vein.

Spider veins can also be caused by sunlight, hormonal changes, or an injury.

Laser treatments: In Harmony Laser Med Spa we use lasers to treat spider veins and small varicose veins. During laser treatment, our physician uses directs the laser light at the vein.

Laser light can destroy the veins without damaging your skin. Small spider veins may disappear immediately after treatment.   Larger spider veins will darken, and you’ll likely see them for 1 to 3 months before they disappear. To get complete clearing, you may need 3 or more treatments.

Benefits of Spider Vein Treatment

Not only do spider vein treatments greatly diminish or eliminate the appearance of spider veins, they also offer the following benefits:

  • No discomfort
  • Quick treatments
  • No downtime following treatments
  • Permanent results

One cannot underestimate the impact spider vein treatment can have on self-esteem and the feeling of being confident in one’s own skin. This is why the benefits of spider vein treatments extend beyond the physical, addressing a patient’s overall feeling of attractiveness and self-worth.

What can I expect from spider vein treatments

The results from spider vein treatments are somewhat noticeable immediately following each treatment and get better over time. Repeat treatments continue to diminish the visible veins until they have collapsed and are not functional. The results are permanent; however, other veins may appear elsewhere on the legs that may require similar treatment.

At Harmony  Laser Med Spa, we create our spider vein treatment protocols based on our clients’ individual needs. As a result, your procedure may differ from another patient going through treatment at the same time. Rest assured, this allows us to better serve you and ensure you receive the results you are seeking.
